My dog has horrible allergies and prior to this nothing worked, including any antihistamines that are available over the counter or by prescription. My dog seemed to be itching all the time after I put this lotion on, it seemed to soothe her for several days. It's pretty easy to apply and easy to wash off of your hands. If you are familiar with Pink Lotion (my mom used it on me and my sisters as children), it's similar to that pink color and consistency.
