Shop For Mal-A-Ket Shampoo (8 oz)

I purchased this product because the product I had previously received from my vet is no longer made because the company is under FDA investigation for mercury contamination in their horse products. I believe the other product was called Malaseb. It contained Miconazole and Chlorhexidine. This product only contains one of those chemicals, Chlorhexidine, and a different one I guess to perform the same antifungal action as the Miconazole. I also have another product (forget the name right now) that contains Miconazole but no Chlorhexadine. Anyway, this product with the Chlorhexadine works better than the one with just the Miconazole. But the Malaseb with both worked the best. So I just mix the 2.

I'm no vet and I don't claim to know how these chemicals work. But for whatever reason, the Miconazole + Chlorhexadine works best on my dog's paws. So what I do is take this product and mix it with the other product that has the Miconazole. It clearly works on my dog -- a french bulldog that has a skin condition with his paws. Unfortunately the application process of sitting in the bathtub for 10 minutes is not fun or convenient for either of us, so I don't always apply it consistently like I should. Regardless, I definitely notice a temporary relief of a few days after treating his paws with this shampoo. Now if only I could stay on top of it...

Basically what it comes down to is that you have to find what is right for your pet. There's also KetoChlor which contains Chlorhexidine and Ketoconazole. Again, I don't know what the difference between miconazole and ketoconazole is, but it might be worth a shot. The same company that makes KetoChlor (Virbac) makes the product I spoke of above with the Miconazole. I didn't realize they also had one with Chlorhexidine until just now.Get more detail about Mal-A-Ket Shampoo (8 oz).
