I tried this since it was a new style and has a permanent grind stone in it. It is pretty hard to use and not much power. You get what you pay for, this one was very inexpensive (it goes to say). The shield won't stay on mine and its position makes trimming very difficult. The unit stops with almost every cut so makes it ineffective as a nail trimmer (at least on toy dogs or larger--(maybe it works for a cat???).
